is looking for a dynamic motivated intern or volunteer interested in exploring,
building and/or refining a career in social media marketing.  This is a perfect opportunity for a student, recent college grad, or anyone looking to gain experience in the realm of
Social Media Marketing.

About West Roxbury Main Streets

West Roxbury Main Streets (WRMS) is a 501(c)(3)
non-profit organization that promotes and enhances West Roxbury’s business
district. WRMS embraces a four prong approach to achieving its revitalization
goals: enhancing the physical appearance of the commercial district; improving
its economic stability; marketing its features and benefits; and promoting
community involvement.

The intern or volunteer will assist with the following areas:

  • Update and maintain WRMS social media presence on
    Twitter and our Facebook page,
    and grow our Flickr and LinkedIn presence, including responding to posts and
    messages or referring to WRMS Executive Director for follow up
  • Review materials posted by all local media
    outlets relating to West Roxbury member businesses and post relevant items through
    social media channels and on wrms.org
  • Market all WRMS events via social media outlets and
    wrms.org
  • Assisting with events-related press releases to
    local media (West Roxbury Transcript, Bulletin and Patch news outlets) and
    maintaining events calendar items on http://WestRoxbury.Patch.com
  • Brainstorming new ideas to increase WRMS’s
    exposure through its existing web presence and beyond (particularly in the area
    of third-party efficiency applications, like Hoot Suite or Tweet Deck)
  • If local to the West Roxbury area, be available
    to assist with traditional forms of marketing (e.g., flyers, posters)

Qualifications

  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiar with social media applications
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Demonstrated interest in social media marketing
    and public relations
  • Must be able to commit to approximately 1 hour
    each business day (timing flexible)
  • Virtual or remote work (home-based) preferred
    (with periodic meetings)
  • Able to begin work as soon as possible; duration
    negotiable

Compensation

This is an unpaid internship/volunteer role with the opportunity for college
credit.  We are open to discussing
expanding the job description and hours if there are specific requirements for
college credit.
