Two new eateries on the way for West Roxbury

Two new eateries on the way for West Roxbury
West Roxbury —

At the West Roxbury Neighborhood Council meeting on Nov 22, Shea Coakley,  co-founder of West Roxbury’s new LeanWorks  restaurant, set up his PowerPoint presentation and flyers alone and for good  reason.

When asked where his business partner was, Coakley said, “He will literally,  in the next 10 minutes, be proposing to his wife, or future wife.” He paused to  check his phone, before continuing, “He would’ve loved to have made it but he  texted me 10 minutes before I got here and said he was going to propose.”

By the end of the meeting at 8:30 p.m., Coakley informed the audience that  the proposal had been a success and that he and his business partner had more  than just a new store to look forward to.

The meeting, held at the Area E-5 Police Station in West Roxbury, focused on  two topics: Learning more about the new LeanWorks restaurant to open in Shaw’s  plaza and to hear about a new Subway location to open at the corner of Corey and  Centre streets.

According to Coakley, LeanWorks is a healthy fast food restaurant that will  serve Parkway customers after its grand opening on March 1.

“It’s fast food reinvented,” said Coakley. “We’re a quick-service restaurant.  We’re fitting into the space somewhere between the fast food and the sit-down  restaurants — things that are a little bit upscale but still quick.”

With sample menus for council members to look at, Coakley stressed the fact  that everything on LeanWorks’ menu is 490 calories or less. With choices such as  steak and cheese and a buffalo chicken wrap, Coakley and his business partner  wanted to provide “something healthy to eat without sacrificing taste.”

The restaurant, located at 75 Spring St., would be open from 11 a.m. to 9  p.m. to cater to lunch and dinner crowds. It will have an indoor maximum  capacity of 49 people and the possibility of outdoor seating.

LeanWorks will soon be looking to hire as the demolition and construction  continues. “We’ll be staffing from the ground up, preferably with West Roxbury  locals,” said Coakley. “We’d have a minimum of 12 positions from general  management to part-time cashiers, and probably more than that.”
